Sale of Nelson Electricity Limited, New Zealand

Morrison & Co was appointed by the Nelson City Council (NCC) as adviser with respect to the divestment of the Council’s 100% interest in Nelson Electricity. At the time, Nelson Electricity’s distribution assets were leased to Citipower Limited, a subsidiary of Capital Power Limited. Morrison & Co’s mandate included:

• Recommending the process to be adopted by NCC and its overall strategy;
• Planning and implementing the bidding process including Information Memorandum preparation;
• Control and administration of the indicative bid process;
• Preparation and organisation of the due diligence process;
• Negotiating with the bidders; and
• Finalisation of the sale & purchase agreement.
