Acquisition of Matahina Power Station, New Zealand

Morrison & Co advised TrustPower on the successful acquisition of Matahina Power Station. Morrison & Co’s role included:

• Financial modelling;
• Assisting with the modelling of the operation of the hydro station. This included developing a hydro reservoir simulation model, (in conjunction with specialist engineering consultants) to assess -
• Reservoir operating schedules to optimise economic use of storage,
• The earnings of the facility for an optimised time of day generation profile,
• The variation of value under various extreme inflow conditions, and
• Correlation of the facility’s generation capacity with those of ECNZ and any other relevant generation;
• Transmission pricing; and
• Valuation report and recommended bid range.
